Job Description
Job Purpose / Reason for the Position:
- The maintenance engineer ensures the availability, reliability, and safety of the facilities for a production sector. He/she must ensure resource efficiency and control maintenance costs.
Responsibilities
- Ensure compliance with legal inspections on facilities, respecting Swiss legal requirements. Monitor and demonstrate the required and achieved compliance levels.
- Responsible for developing the maintenance strategy for the sector, aligned with the site needs, the concerned production area, and products.
- Establish and manage the maintenance budget for their area of responsibility.
- Analyze problems and drive continuous improvement of maintenance in their sector.
- Prepare maintenance budgets for approval within areas of responsibility, with clear justification criteria for expenditure levels in line with Asset and Maintenance strategy.
- Develop renovation plans for facilities, manage associated credit requests, and oversee work acceptance.
- Improve the reliability of facilities in their sector.
- Lead the maintenance, intervention, and project team of the sector.
- If necessary, replace a maintenance engineer colleague from another sector if workload requires.
Qualifications
- Engineering degree in a technical field or equivalent experience.
- Fluent English.
- Good interpersonal skills, natural leadership, comfortable with cross-functional management.
- Knowledge of Swiss regulations and their application in process industries (e.g., OPAM).
- Engineering and maintenance experience in a process industry (minimum 3 years).
- Strong technical knowledge in several fields applied in our industry.
- Knowledge of process risk analyses.
- Budget management experience.
- Comfortable with human contacts and a good team spirit.
- Negotiation, influence, and motivation skills.
- Ability to manage ambiguity.
- Strong customer-oriented mindset.
- Flexibility and ability to adapt quickly.
