About the job
Your tasks- •Provide hands-on technical support for a 95% automated manufacturing environment, ensuring maximum equipment uptime across diecasting, trim/extraction/handling, machining & assembly, heat treat, straightening and grinding cells.
- •Troubleshoot and repair automation and controls issues including PLC logic faults, safety circuit faults, sensor failures, communication/network issues, servo/drive faults, HMI alarms, and robot errors.
- •Diagnose and resolve ABB robot issues.
- •Recovery from faults and collisions, mastering checks, calibration verification, tool/base data verification.
- •Program touch-ups and minor modifications as authorized.
- •I/O mapping validation, end-of-arm tooling (EOAT) integration checks, and cycle optimization support.
- •Support Siemens PLC-based systems by:
- •Reading/diagnosing logic and trends, validating I/O, and performing controlled changes per site change-control.
- •Maintaining program backups/version control, restoring programs, and verifying commissioning parameters after repairs.
- •Maintain and troubleshoot industrial safety systems (e-stops, interlocks, gates, light curtains, scanners, safety relays/PLCs) and ensure compliance with LOTO and site safety standards.
- •Troubleshoot and maintain industrial communication networks used in the plant (e.g., Profinet/Industrial Ethernet and related field communications), including device replacement, addressing, and communication fault resolution.
- •Perform preventive and predictive maintenance tasks for automation assets:
- •Robot PMs (grease, harness/cable inspections, batteries, axis checks).
- •Controls cabinet PMs (fans/filters, thermal checks, loose connections, contamination control).
- •Sensor/vision/measurement system cleaning and verification where applicable
- •Support planned downtime and changeovers.
- •Assist with start-ups, line clearance, recipe/parameter verification, and validation runs after maintenance.
- •Confirm interlocks, safe zones, and cycle readiness before releasing equipment to production.
Your profile
- •Automation/Robotics technician supporting a highly automated HPDC diecasting operation with integrated automated machining & assembly, heat treatment, and straightening/grinding lines.
- •Expert in rapid troubleshooting and recovery of Siemens PLC-controlled equipment and ABB robot cells, including safety circuits, I/O, drives/servos, HMIs, and industrial networks.
- •Proven ability to drive uptime and reliability through structured diagnostics, PM optimization, disciplined change control, and strong documentation.
- •Collaborative, safety-first problem solver who partners with Production, Quality, and Engineering to execute RCA, reduce recurring faults, and improve cycle stability.
