Job Description
Your responsibilities
The Long Shutdown 3 of the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) is a pivotal moment for CERN, marking the final implementation of the High-Luminosity LHC and significant advancements in other technological projects.
During this dynamic phase, you will play a key role in supporting CERN's technical units by carrying out a variety of administrative tasks, monitoring expenditures, contributing to major contracts, and ensuring effective follow-up on workforce planning for a team of around 130 engineers, physicists, and technicians.
You will also be actively involved in the recruitment of graduates and students within the Technology Department, providing financial and administrative support throughout the process. This includes preparing and presenting new requests to the Department Management Board, giving you full visibility of, and involvement in, decision-making processes.
To thrive in this role, you will bring strong skills in data management and evaluation, accounting, and communication, together with proven experience in handling confidential information with discretion.
Your profile
Skills:
- Administrative skills: proficient in scheduling, document preparation, meeting coordination, and accurate minute-taking.
- Financial management: experienced in budgeting, monitoring and reporting on expenditures.
- Workforce planning: skilled in headcount tracking and resource planning.
- Communication skills: able to draft clear, concise reports, present requests effectively, and liaise confidently across both technical and administrative teams.
- Confidentiality: proven ability to handle sensitive HR and financial information with discretion, in line with EU directives.
- Technical tools: familiarity with software such as Python, Microsoft Excel, Power BI, and Microsoft Project is an advantage.
- Spoken and written English, with a commitment to learn French.
Eligibility criteria:
- You are a national of a CERN Member or Associate Member State .
- By the application deadline, you have a maximum of two years of professional experience since graduation in Business Administration (or a related field) and your highest educational qualification is either a Bachelor's or Master's degree.
- You have never had a CERN fellow or graduate contract before.
- Applicants without University degree are not eligible.
- Applicants with a PhD are not eligible.
Additional Information
Job closing date: 23.09.2025 at 23:59 CEST.
Contract duration: 24 months, with a possible extension up to 36 months maximum.
Working hours: 40 hours per week
Target start date: 01-November-2025

- Work during nights, Sundays and official holidays, when required by the needs of the Organisation.
