It manages acute situations, notably through the emergency department at the Trois-Chêne hospital, age-related specific problems, medical rehabilitation, and palliative medicine.
The Palliative Medicine Service offers a range of specialized palliative care approaches for patients and their relatives. It consists of 36 specialized palliative care beds at Bellerive (28 beds) and 8 beds at Joli-Mont (8 beds), and provides inpatient palliative care consultations (CoSPa) across all HUG sites, as well as outpatient and home consultations. Its activity is cross-sectional. Its mission is to serve as a resource for medical and nursing teams in the field of specialized palliative care by helping them develop skills in assessment, communication, and the development of therapeutic projects.
Job Description
As a nurse in the palliative care unit at the Joli-Mont Clinic, you autonomously and interdisciplinarily ensure the comprehensive and personalized care of patients requiring technical and complex care.
In this context, you identify complexity and adapt care according to the psychological, physical, and spiritual needs of patients, taking their relatives into account. You use appropriate tools for their care and provide brief and personalized oral and written handovers for follow-up, notably on DPI.
You also perform supervisory and teaching functions for trainees and new employees.
The position is part of an interdepartmental collaboration dynamic and includes rotation within another palliative care service (COSPA), promoting the sharing of practices and skills development.
Finally, you contribute to the development of care quality and conduct professional reflection based on the analysis of nursing care practices.
Qualifications
You hold a Bachelor of Science in Nursing or an equivalent nursing diploma recognized by the Swiss Red Cross.
A CAS in palliative care or an equivalent qualification, as well as any other training related to palliative patient care (palliative care awareness, pain management, etc.) is required or must be obtained during employment.
You have at least 2 years of hospital experience, preferably in palliative care. You master acute technical care, including monitoring related to non-invasive ventilation.
You are comfortable with palliative patient care and demonstrate strong interpersonal skills.
Throughout your professional career, you have managed stressful situations and are capable of working quickly and autonomously. Additionally, you are recognized for your adaptability and priority management skills.
Thanks to your team spirit and communication skills, you work interprofessionally to unite all partners around a common vision to develop care projects for optimal patient and relative care. You appreciate collaboration and multidisciplinary teamwork.
Proficiency with computer tools is necessary to successfully carry out this mission, as well as a good knowledge of the French language.
