The position is attached to the Diagnostic Department . This department, composed of nine medical services, is tasked with providing diagnostics, therapeutic products, therapeutic procedures, and specialized clinical consultations of high medical quality, within the best timeframes and at an acceptable cost, to guide patient care and contribute to therapeutic decisions and actions.
The Genetic Medicine Service (SMG) is a clinical service, with consultations and laboratory, research, and teaching services. In addition to genetic counseling for patients, preceding or following constitutional genetic analyses, the genetic medicine service works closely with physicians from various services within the HUG as well as with external providers to offer molecular and cytogenomic genetic services.
The laboratories of the genetic medicine service offer molecular biology analyses, conventional and molecular cytogenetics including advanced technologies based on high-throughput sequencing in particular. The services offered in the SMG laboratories primarily ensure diagnosis, prognosis, and prediction in the context of hereditary diseases as well as hematological neoplasms.
The molecular diagnostic laboratory performs analyses using classical methods (PCR, Sanger sequencing, MLPA, TP-PCR…) as well as rapidly evolving methods (NGS, Molecular NIPT, OGM) in the field of constitutional pathologies.
