Pharmacist PhD Student at the Pharmacy Logistics Unit
The Pharmacy Service of the CHUV is looking for its Logistics Unit, a pharmacist PhD student, with 55% paid activity and 45% dedicated to writing a thesis, within the framework of a fixed-term contract of one year, renewable up to five years.
The starting date is scheduled for February 1, 2026, or to be agreed upon.
Context
The Lausanne University Hospital (CHUV) is one of the five Swiss university hospitals. Thanks to its collaboration with the Faculty of Biology and Medicine of the University of Lausanne and EPFL, it plays a leading role in the fields of medical care, medical research, and education.
The Pharmacy Service of the CHUV has the following missions:
- the manufacture and supply of pharmaceutical products
- the promotion of the rational use of medicines
- teaching and research in hospital pharmacy.
The Logistics Unit contributes to the quality of the medication circuit, the optimization of processes, and patient safety.
Mission
Service activities (55% – paid)
- You supervise orders and the management of drug stocks
- You participate in quality management and traceability of distributed medicines
- You organize and coordinate the Unit's activities in the absence of the manager
- You carry out internal and external training tasks
- You participate in the management of IT tools related to quality assurance.
Research activities (45% – unpaid, study part)
- You carry out a thesis on the medico-economic optimization of hospital pharmaceutical logistics, through predictive modeling and training in technology adoption
- You are engaged at 100% (overall activity), but the remuneration corresponds to 55%, according to the part dedicated to service activities
- The contract is planned for five years: an initial one-year contract, renewable annually up to five years.
Profile
- You will be registered as a regular student in the ISPSO doctoral program
- You hold a federal pharmacist diploma or an equivalent title, with mandatory MEBEKO recognition for foreign diplomas
- You have experience in hospital, outpatient, or industrial pharmacy
- You have a strong interest in pharmaceutical logistics and the quality of the medication circuit
- You demonstrate scientific curiosity, rigor, and a solid analytical mind
- You master scientific English
- Knowledge in handling cytotoxics, cold chain, or narcotics is an asset
- You appreciate teamwork, have good interpersonal skills, and solid IT skills.
