Museum Technician
Office of Culture | Rhaetian Museum | 80-100% | Chur
Following the retirement of the current job holder, we are looking for a museum technician for the Rhaetian Museum, which is part of the Office of Culture, starting March 1, 2026.
Tasks
- Reception service, maintenance and care of the museum building, the room designated for the custody of cultural assets, the material storage, and the carpentry workshop including collection objects and all tools
- Technical and artisanal design and implementation of exhibitions
- Independent realization of exhibition architecture (furniture and various structures)
- Carpentry, artisanal work, and procurement of necessary materials
- Setting up and dismantling exhibitions
- Collaboration in organizing, recording, planning storage, transport, and management of objects in the room designated for the custody of cultural assets
- Preparation of infrastructure for events
- Management and organization of the on-call service
- Assistance to auxiliary staff, civil protection personnel, and interns
What we expect from you
- Professional certificate as a craftsman, preferably as a furniture carpenter, and several years of professional experience
- Handyman skills regarding woodwork, painting, electrical work, and upholstery
- Organizational skills and independent working method
- Ability to find pragmatic, technical, and creative solutions
- Commitment, flexibility, and ability to work in a team
- Interest in history and museum work
- Driver's license for motor vehicles and small transport vehicles
- Residence near Chur (on-call service)
