Communication Officer for the Department of Surgery
The management of the Department of Surgery is looking for a communication officer at a 50% activity rate starting October 1, 2025, or a date to be agreed upon.
Context
The Lausanne University Hospital (CHUV) is one of the 5 Swiss university hospitals. Thanks to its collaboration with the Faculty of Biology and Medicine of the University of Lausanne and EPFL, CHUV plays a leading role in medical care, medical research, and education.
The Department of Surgery includes 7 Services: thoracic surgery, visceral surgery, septic surgery, the organ transplantation center, urology, and dental medicine. It is led by Professor Christian Simon, who is also head of the ENT Service.
Mission
You will play a key role in promoting the Department of Surgery and its Services. In close connection with the department management and clinical service management, you will be responsible for:
- Defining and implementing an internal and external communication strategy for the department and its Services
- Developing the presence of the Department of Surgery and its Services on social networks to reach both patients and healthcare professionals
- Writing clear, relevant, and impactful content for various media (brochures, newsletters, articles, press releases, social networks)
- Serving as a liaison between the Services, the department, and various media to increase the visibility of the Department of Surgery
- Positioning the Department of Surgery and its Services as key players in patient care.
- Contributing to raising awareness among the public and professionals about the pathologies managed within the Department of Surgery, highlighting surgical technological innovations, and promoting CHUV as a reference center in this field
- Actively participating in expanding the patient recruitment pool while respecting CHUV's ethical and institutional values.
Profile
- Higher education in communication, journalism, marketing, or equivalent, with 2 to 5 years of experience in a similar role. Additional training in project management is an asset
- Proven experience in institutional communication, ideally in a hospital or scientific environment
- Excellent writing skills in French; knowledge of English and/or German is an asset
- Mastery of digital tools, including video and social networks
- Initiative, creativity, interpersonal skills, and ability to unite around cross-functional projects.
