Attached to the Department of Medicine , the nephrology service provides diagnostic and non-surgical therapeutic care for adult patients suffering from kidney diseases, taking into account the services provided by other HUG departments.
Job Description
You will care for outpatient or hospitalized patients with kidney diseases within the outpatient nephrology service, which is composed of 3 sectors: the hemodialysis center, the peritoneal dialysis sector, and the nephrology and hypertension consultation.
You perform medical-technical procedures in the 3 sectors such as assembling and disassembling machines, puncturing and monitoring arteriovenous fistulas, connecting and disconnecting dialysis catheters. You ensure the smooth running of hemodialysis, plasmapheresis, and peritoneal dialysis sessions. Your technical and theoretical knowledge will allow you to guarantee patient safety by monitoring them precisely and continuously and providing the necessary care.
You promote the autonomy of the patient, enabling them to make informed choices and personalize their care according to their preferences and values.
Your interpersonal skills allow you to provide quality supportive relationships throughout the care process.
Your versatility and willingness to help will lead you to work in different sectors.
You also work autonomously within a multidisciplinary team, move between units to provide dialysis if needed, and ensure 24/7 on-call duties.

Qualifications
You hold a Bachelor of Science in Nursing or an equivalent recognized qualification by the Swiss Red Cross.
A CAS in Care for Patients with Renal Failure is highly recommended. A CAS in Therapeutic Patient Education or palliative care is an asset. A Master’s degree in nursing sciences is an advantage.
You have at least two years of experience in a hospital care unit and experience in a dialysis center (with IQ Braun machine, Fresenius 5008 or equivalent) is an asset.
You demonstrate proven competence with patients suffering from chronic diseases.
You show technical mastery, skill, and dexterity, with a strong interest in technical care.
You have a great capacity to adapt to versatile work.
Comfortable in human relations, you demonstrate good listening skills, empathy, negotiation, and teaching abilities.
You are also capable of analysis, synthesis, adaptation to unforeseen events, and stress management.
