Introduction

Senior School Teachers hold an important role at ICS as they guide our older students on their path to IB exams, university, and future career choices. They have the unique ability to promote learning and personal growth by building on students’ natural talents as they mature through the years and gradually recognise their strengths.
Specific Responsibilities
The ICS is the oldest international school in the Greater Zurich Area. Proudly an IB World School, ICS is renowned for the community it has created over the past six decades, and high education standards.
We are seeking an inspiring Design Teacher to join our team on a maternity leave cover from January 2026 until the last day of the school year.
Teaching & Learning:
- Teach Design classes in the IB MYP, and DP (Grades 6–12).
- Construct engaging, challenging learning experiences that respond to the diverse needs of students.
- Integrate technology effectively to enhance learning and innovation.
- Demonstrate effective classroom management and understanding of the academic, social, and emotional dimensions of learning.
Assessment & Reporting:
- Design and implement formative and summative assessments that support ongoing learning.
- Provide timely and constructive feedback to students.
- Keep parents informed through proactive communication, conferences, and reports.
- Maintain accurate records of student progress in alignment with ICS procedures.
Curriculum Development:
- Contribute to the ongoing development and documentation of the Design curriculum with the Head of Department and IB Coordinators.
- Engage in interdisciplinary projects and ensure programme requirements are met.
Pastoral & Community Contribution:
- Serve as a tutor, supporting the social and emotional wellbeing of students and delivering the Personal Development Programme.
- Actively contribute to the collaborative culture of ICS through participation in departmental and school-wide meetings.
- Support students in key projects such as the MYP Personal Project and the IB Extended Essay.
- Participate in extra-curricular activities, school life
Education, Experience & Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree and recognised teaching qualification for Secondary Design.
- Minimum 4 years of recent and relevant classroom experience, in international schools and the IB MYP, DP an advantage.
- Expertise in resistant materials; textiles experience preferred.
- Strong skills in using technology for learning and administration.
- Proven ability to support students with diverse learning needs.
- Up-to-date health and safety in the workshop certificate.
- Excellent communication and classroom management skills, with a record of teaching excellence.
Terms & Conditions:
- Fixed-term maternity leave cover: from January 2026 until the end of the school year.
- Reports to: Gabriel Di Mauro, Senior School Principal & Daniel Bush, Head of Department.
- Salary and benefits commensurate with experience and qualifications.
