Department Head Operations Dispatch, Security Center and Lodge 80 - 100%Correctional Services and Reintegration (JuWe) is part of the Directorate of Justice and the Interior of the Canton of Zurich and is responsible for penal and measure enforcement as well as the implementation of various types of detention.
At Zurich West Prison (GZW), we serve the public 365 days a year, 24 hours a day. Our tasks and challenges are diverse – we master them together as a team and with high professionalism.
The Department of Operations Dispatch, Security Center and Lodge, with 75 employees, is the organizational and security-relevant core of the operation. It combines several teams with different tasks, interests, and work realities, and this is exactly where your impact begins.
To strengthen our management team, we are looking for a leader who strengthens interfaces and leads people through change.
This is your field of activity
- You lead the Department of Operations Dispatch, Security Center and Lodge strategically, personnel-wise, and operationally and manage several teams with different professional profiles
- You lead employees and teams through change processes, create orientation, and promote a culture of responsibility, professionalism, and collaboration
- You identify areas for optimization early, further develop the organization, and drive digitalization projects and process innovations
- You ensure the operational functionality, from transports and delivery processes to security-critical procedures
- You contribute your perspective to the management team, represent the department internally and externally, and lead strategic and operational projects
- You work closely with internal departments (e.g., security, administration, legal service) and external partners such as police, justice, and suppliers and ensure functioning interfaces
- You are responsible for the budget and deploy resources purposefully and economically
What you bring with you
- Completed basic education (EFZ) with advanced training (federal specialist certificate, bachelor’s degree, or management diploma)
- Ideally, a qualification in the fields of correctional services, security, or law; alternatively, willingness to thoroughly familiarize yourself with these topics
- About ten years of experience in complex organizations as well as proven leadership experience, ideally across several teams
- High competence in process design, structural work, and project management
- Strong communication skills, negotiation skills, and the ability to provide orientation in demanding situations
- Resilience, solution orientation, and the ability to maintain an overview even in dynamic situations
- Willingness to take on on-call management duties
