The position is attached to the Diagnostic Department . Composed of nine medical services, its mission is to provide diagnostics, therapeutic products, therapeutic procedures, and specialized clinical consultations of high medical quality, within the best timeframes and at an acceptable cost, to guide patient care and contribute to therapeutic decisions and actions.
The clinical pathology service provides a diagnostic clinical activity , mainly on tissues from biopsies or surgical specimens. This activity helps guide patient care and significantly contributes to therapeutic decisions. Through performing medical autopsies and its research and development activities, the clinical pathology service participates in understanding the pathophysiological mechanisms involved in lesion processes. The service also has missions of research and education .
Job Description
As a biomedical analysis technician, you join the team of the macroscopic, histology, and cytology laboratory of the pathology service at HUG. You are responsible for handling tissue samples and performing the technical steps necessary to prepare these samples for microscopic examination, ensuring quality, safety, and analysis deadlines.
Within your activities, you rigorously perform the reception, verification, and handling of samples sent to the clinical pathology service.
You participate in the preparation of histological slides and ensure their digitization and/or delivery to pathologist doctors.
You ensure the proper functioning of the laboratory by maintaining equipment according to accreditation standards.
You participate in the service's colloquia and meetings.
Upon request, you perform other clinical or academic tasks related to your qualifications and in agreement with the hierarchy.
Qualifications
You hold a diploma as a biomedical analysis technician (TAB) or an equivalent recognized qualification.
You are comfortable with computer tools.
You have good stress resistance, demonstrate organization, and know how to manage your priorities.
Your rigor, sense of responsibility, and autonomy allow you to perform assigned tasks optimally and efficiently.
Your interpersonal skills enable you to work easily in a team and integrate well.
Experience in clinical laboratories is desired. Experience in histology is an asset.
Additional Information
Work shifts are organized on a rotation basis which may require schedule changes between 07:00 and 18:00 as well as some Saturday morning on-call duties per year.
