Caritas Switzerland is committed to fair legal protection for asylum seekers. Together with the Swiss Workers' Relief Organization SOS Ticino, Caritas Switzerland ensures, on behalf of the State Secretariat for Migration (SEM), the counseling and legal representation of asylum seekers in the federal centers in Central Switzerland and Ticino.
Your tasks
Independent substantive and administrative case management in mandate cases, especially within the framework of the Dublin procedure:
- Representation and decision-making in proceedings before the SEM at the Federal Asylum Center Glaubenberg (OW)
- Representation in appeal proceedings before the Federal Administrative Court
- Partial representation in proceedings before the cantonal (migration) authorities
- Close cooperation with the counselors and team colleagues of SOS Ticino
- Monitoring practice, case law, and doctrine in the relevant legal areas, especially asylum and foreigner law
- Providing information to asylum seekers about the asylum procedure, the involved actors, and their rights and obligations in the asylum process
Our requirements
- Law degree (Master of Law; lic. iur. or an equivalent foreign diploma)
- Very good German or Italian skills in spoken and written form and good knowledge of the other language; additional foreign language skills are an advantage
- Experience in counseling asylum seekers as well as knowledge or experience in the asylum and migration sector in Switzerland
- Interest in and understanding of people from different cultures, social realities in the context of flight, and social living environments
- High social competence, resilience, and flexibility
- Conflict and boundary-setting skills
- Category B driving license is mandatory (consultations are practically exclusively at Glaubenberg)
Workplace is Lucerne, with frequent travel to Glaubenberg
