The Social Insurance Court of the Canton of Zurich is one of the three highest cantonal courts and is responsible for handling complaints and lawsuits in the field of social insurance, in particular disability insurance, accident insurance, unemployment insurance, old-age and survivors' insurance, health insurance, and occupational pension schemes. The Social Insurance Court is a medium-sized institution with currently 15 judges and around 80 employees in the legal and administrative areas.
As the current office holder is retiring, we are looking for a Secretary General (80 - 100%) starting December 2025 or by agreement.

The following main areas of responsibility await you:
- As chief of staff, you support and advise the president, the management, and the plenary in the leadership of the court and are responsible for preparing the meetings of the management and the plenary as well as for implementing the resolutions passed. You draft the court's consultations and the annual accountability report to the cantonal council.
- You contribute to a coherent personnel policy and advise the staff on all personnel law and administrative matters. You are also responsible for personnel recruitment.
- You bear the main responsibility for infrastructure and resources, namely the areas of controlling, accounting, documentation, building services, and security.
- You support the president in representing the court in the relevant committees of the cantonal council and in public and are responsible for providing information to external parties and the media.
- You support and help shape the digital transformation.
Your profile
- You have a university degree in law (possibly business administration) and several years of professional and leadership experience in the judiciary or administration.
- You have additional qualifications in leadership and project management and preferably also in public personnel law and business organization.
- Furthermore, you possess high social competence, have a confident and assured demeanor, a natural, unobtrusive authority, an open door for the concerns of all functional groups, are communicative, and have a clear and differentiated expression both orally and in writing.
- You are resilient and flexible and able to handle several matters simultaneously with high quality and above-average efficiency and effectiveness while always maintaining an overview.
- You can think and act conceptually, have very good analytical skills, and an eye for the essentials.
- You are self-initiated, pragmatic, decisive, and motivating.
- You know the political environment and are able to navigate it prudently, diplomatically, goal-oriented, and while safeguarding the interests of the court.
