Your new task
As Chief of Staff, you take on a central hub function within the city administration. You support and advise the director as well as the departments of the directorate in strategic, organizational, and operational matters. In addition, you coordinate and lead complex cross-directorate and cross-department projects, take over the management of special projects with political significance, and prepare decision-making bases and proposals for the city council and the city parliament. You actively participate in the planning and implementation of the affairs of the city of St. Gallen within the framework of the conference of chiefs of staff.
You also lead the secretariat of the Real Estate and Construction Commission and are responsible for managing the departments of Legal Services, Construction Documentation, Construction Accounting, Secretariat, and the city telephone switchboard. In doing so, you ensure efficient organization, clear communication, and coordinated collaboration within the directorate and beyond its boundaries.

- you have a university degree, ideally related to law, administration, spatial planning, or construction.
- you bring several years of leadership and project experience in a complex, political environment.

The staff of the Directorate of Planning and Construction supports and advises the specialist offices from the areas of urban planning, building construction, civil engineering, urban greenery, real estate, land registry office, geomatics and surveying, as well as the office for building permits. As a staff unit with currently 16 employees, the staff of the Directorate of Planning and Construction sees itself as a competent, efficient, and reliable hub within the directorate and towards the political bodies.
