The Cantonal Tax Office is responsible for enforcing the provisions of federal, cantonal, and municipal taxes. It ensures the complete registration of all taxpayers, professional and customer-oriented tax assessment, and uniform tax collection.
The Finance Department is responsible for the tax accounting of the canton of St. Gallen. It ensures efficient and legally compliant collection of cantonal taxes and supervises the municipal tax offices. It ensures that the tax procedure is correctly applied throughout the canton.
