PH Zurich actively shapes education, school, and teaching of today and tomorrow in teaching and research. The « Center for Education and Digital Change » is dedicated to the three research fields «Education and Digital Society», «Digital Learning and Teaching», and «Computing Skills and Education».
Within the framework of the project « Equipping Schools: The Role of Finance in Shaping Switzerland’s Educational Media Landscapes, 1950–2010 » funded by the Swiss National Science Foundation (SNSF), a position as a researcher is to be filled. We are looking for either a person with a doctorate and relevant research experience or a person intending to pursue a doctorate.
The collection and preparation of municipal education expenditures have already been completed. Based on this, potential explanations for specific historical developments are developed through in-depth analyses of published sources and archival material. These results are finally published in the form of peer-reviewed journal articles in close collaboration with other team members.
In the case of a dissertation, the doctoral project will be carried out at PH Zurich and enrollment will take place at a university to be determined. The salary is based on the SNSF salary scales for doctoral candidates and the workload is at least 80%. The position can also be filled by a person who has already obtained a doctorate with a workload of 50-60% .
- Evaluation of archival and published sources
- Descriptive analyses based on an existing statistical dataset
- If applicable, conception and implementation of a historical education doctoral project
- Collaboration in the publication of a comprehensive dataset
- Team-oriented participation in the research project
- International lecture and publication activities
- Master's degree or doctorate in a historical, educational scienceor related discipline
- Experience working with archival and statistical sources or strong interest in acquiring this
- Confident reading skills in French and German
- Knowledge of the Swiss education system (advantageous)
