At the University of Bern, over 8,000 people from more than 90 nations work together. They research, teach, provide services to the public, and ensure the university's operations. The IT Services department (ID) of the University of Bern offers students and staff a wide range of services and advice in the field of ICT. We are looking for an open and motivated personality who is interested in taking over the technical, financial, and personnel management of the ICT of the Medical Faculty, managing and coordinating the ICT project and service portfolio of the faculty, and thus effectively and efficiently meeting the needs of the faculty in the area of ICT. This newly created position is located at the interface between the central IT services (ID) of the university and the Medical Faculty, reports directly to the head of ID / CIO of the university, and regularly coordinates with the Vice Dean of Digitalization and the head of the Medical Dean's Office regarding the further development of the faculty's ICT.
What needs to be done
Technical, financial, and personnel management of the ICT of the Medical Faculty:
- Co-development and implementation of the faculty's IT strategy
- Management of the ICT portfolio (projects and services) of the faculty, including coordination of ongoing projects
- Budget planning and resource management
- Leadership of the faculty's ICT team
- Central contact person for all ICT infrastructures and services of the faculty
- Ensuring compliance with compliance requirements
ICT project management:
- Prioritization, planning, and implementation of ICT projects
- Control and monitoring of ongoing ICT projects
Coordination in the area of ICT:
- Ensuring a uniform ICT governance within the faculty
- Coordination of collaboration with ICT service providers in the central area of the university as well as the Insel Gruppe AG
- Implementation of standards in ICT support for smooth collaboration with ICT service providers in the central area of the university as well as the Insel Gruppe AG
Reduction of redundancies in the area of ICT within the faculty
What you bring
- Higher vocational education, ideally (technical) university degree in (business) informatics or similar
- Very good knowledge and experience in implementing processes of ICT governance (demand management, portfolio management, project management, service management)
- Ideally, professional experience in a highly decentralized organization and/or an expert organization
- Broad understanding of informatics as well as basic business understanding
- Communicative and flexible personality
- Independent and proactive working style
- Quick comprehension
- Team player
- Diplomatic skill and assertiveness
- Very good oral and written German skills, good English skills
