Biomedical Analysis Technician at the Clinical Pharmacology Service
The catecholamines and peptides laboratory of the Clinical Pharmacology Service within the Department of Laboratory Medicine and Pathology (DMLP) is looking for a biomedical analysis technician for clinical diagnostic services. These services consist of quantification by mass spectrometry (HPLC-MS/MS) of hormones (catecholamines and derivatives) which represent biomarkers of neuroendocrine tumors.

The Lausanne University Hospital (CHUV) is one of the 5 Swiss university hospitals. Thanks to its collaboration with the Faculty of Biology and Medicine of the University of Lausanne and EPFL, CHUV plays a leading role in medical care, medical research, and education.
The catecholamines and peptides laboratory is a specialized biochemical diagnostic unit attached to the Clinical Pharmacology Service of CHUV. It includes a multidisciplinary team composed of biomedical analysis technicians, students (interns, master’s and PhD), and a laboratory head, and has three mass spectrometers.
The main activity of the laboratory is the diagnosis of neuroendocrine tumors (pheochromocytoma, neuroblastoma, carcinoid tumor), based on plasma and urinary quantification of catecholamine derivatives and serotonin by HPLC-MS/MS mass spectrometry.
The laboratory is recognized as a Swiss and international center of expertise, both for its analytical skills and for its academic research activities (catecholamine metabolism, validation of new assay methods, biomarker discovery). A major development focus concerns the quantification of peptide hormones for clinical purposes.

- You receive, handle analysis requests and register samples
- You proceed with the technical and biomedical validation of laboratory results
- You participate in the management and improvement of the quality management system
- You participate in laboratory maintenance activities and in the management of samples and products
- You actively contribute to the improvement and implementation of new assays
- You contribute to the optimization and medico-technical development
- You help maintain good communication and relationships with your hierarchy and colleagues.
Profile
- You hold a diploma as a biomedical analysis technician ES (ESsanté) or an equivalent title recognized by the Swiss Red Cross
- You have experience in mass spectrometry
- You are comfortable with common computer tools and have the ability to adapt to new software
