About the job
The Cantonal School Glarus includes a long-term high school, a specialized middle school, and a sports school at the lower secondary level with a total of around 480 students.
We are looking for a
Librarian at Cantonal School 50%
starting August 1, 2026, or by arrangement, with the workplace in Glarus.
Tasks
- Advising and supporting school members in information and media matters
- Purchasing, recording, presenting, and updating the collection in cooperation with the subject departments
- Lending media, loan control, and dunning
- Introducing students to the use of the media library and research possibilities in cooperation with class or subject teachers
- Promoting reading in cooperation with teachers (e.g., author readings, book presentations, exhibitions)
- Creating statistics and invoice control
Requirements
- Librarian training (specialist in information and documentation EFZ) or Bibliosuisse certificate course (formerly SAB basic course) or equivalent training
- Cataloging experience and research competence
- Good knowledge of Office programs and precise working method
- Strong interest in the book and media landscape
- Enjoy working with young people
- High degree of independence and initiative
- Teamwork skills and service orientation
- Flexibility in deployment (higher working hours during school weeks, lower working hours during school holidays)
