Pharmaceutical logistics PhD student at the Pharmacy Logistics Unit
The Pharmacy Service of the CHUV is looking for a PhD student for its Pharmaceutical Logistics Unit, with 55% paid activity and 45% dedicated to writing a thesis, within the framework of a fixed-term contract of one year, renewable up to four years.
The starting date is scheduled for April 1, 2026, or to be agreed upon.
Context
The Lausanne University Hospital (CHUV) is one of the five Swiss university hospitals. Thanks to its collaboration with the Faculty of Biology and Medicine of the University of Lausanne and EPFL, it plays a leading role in medical care, medical research, and education.
The Pharmacy Service of the CHUV has the mission to:
- manufacture and supply pharmaceutical products
- promote the rational use of medicines
- teach and conduct research in hospital pharmacy.
The Logistics Unit contributes to the quality of the medication circuit, process optimization, and patient safety.
Mission
Main objective of the position: Doctoral project (45% - unpaid)
Thesis on the medico-economic optimization of hospital pharmaceutical logistics through predictive modeling and technology adoption.
- Mandatory enrollment in the ISPSO doctoral program
- Target duration: 4-5 years (renewable annual fixed-term contract)
- Active engagement in research (analysis, modeling, publications)
Service activities (55% - paid)
- You supervise medication orders and stock management
- You participate in quality management and traceability of distributed medications
- You organize and coordinate the Unit's activities in the absence of the manager
- You provide internal and external training tasks
- You participate in managing IT tools related to quality assurance.
Profile
- You hold a federal pharmacist diploma or an equivalent recognized title, with mandatory MEBEKO recognition for foreign diplomas
- You have experience in hospital pharmacy
- You have a strong interest in pharmaceutical logistics and medication circuit quality
- You demonstrate scientific curiosity, rigor, and strong analytical skills
- You master scientific English
- Knowledge in handling cytotoxics, cold chain, or narcotics is an asset
- You appreciate teamwork, have good interpersonal skills, and solid IT skills.
