The Freies Gymnasium Bern is a private, cantonally recognized long-term high school with around 300 students and about 60 teachers. For over 160 years, the Freigymer has stood for a demanding, value-oriented education and a learning environment that combines commitment, personal development, and community. Our school sees itself as a vibrant educational institution where people are at the center and cooperation, respect, and mutual appreciation shape daily actions.

Tasks
Your role:
In this key role, you will sustainably shape the culture and future of the Freies Gymnasium Bern. Together with the school management, teaching staff, and board, you will shape the further development of the educational profile and strategic direction. At the same time, you create the framework conditions for a performance-promoting, value-oriented school operation. You understand leadership as relationship work, as joint design, and as a service for educational work.
Your main tasks:
- Overall responsibility for the educational, personnel, and operational management of the school
- Leadership and promotion of the school management, teachers, and administrative staff as well as strengthening a motivating school and leadership culture
- Implementation and further development of the strategy in close cooperation with the board, taking into account economic framework conditions to ensure the school's future viability
- Ensuring high educational quality of training and further development of educational offerings, together with the school management and teachers
- Representation and advocacy of the school towards authorities, partner institutions, parents, and the public
Requirements
- Several years of leadership experience in an educational institution or comparable organization and solid business management knowledge
- Academic degree and recognized school management or equivalent leadership training
- Ability to think strategically and act entrepreneurially as well as to sensibly combine educational, organizational, and economic requirements
- Profound understanding of educational processes, innovative teaching/learning methods, and school development
- Leadership personality with a participatory attitude, high social competence, empathy, and pronounced communication skills
- Negotiation-level German skills; French and English are an advantage
