Specific Responsibilities

Senior School Teachers hold an important role at ICS as they guide our older students on their path to IB exams, university, and future career choices. They have the unique ability to promote learning and personal growth by building on students’ natural talents as they mature through the years and gradually recognise their strengths.
We are seeking an inspiring Theatre & English Teacher to join our team on a maternity leave cover from January 2026 until the last day of the school year.
Teaching & Learning
- Teach English and Theatre classes across the IB MYP (Grades 6–10); potential for involvement in the Diploma Programme.
- Plan and deliver engaging, challenging lessons that respond to the diverse needs of students.
- Foster creativity, expression, and communication through drama, theatre, and literature.
- Integrate technology effectively to enhance teaching and learning.
- Demonstrate effective classroom management and an understanding of the academic, social, and emotional dimensions of learning.
Assessment & Reporting
- Design and implement formative and summative assessments that support ongoing learning.
- Provide timely and constructive feedback to students.
- Keep parents informed through proactive communication, conferences, and reports.
- Maintain accurate records of student progress in alignment with ICS procedures.
Curriculum Development
- Contribute to the ongoing development and documentation of the English and Theatre curricula in collaboration with the Heads of Department and IB Coordinators.
- Plan and deliver interdisciplinary projects, including performance-based learning experiences.
Education, Experience & Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree and recognised teaching qualification in English or Theatre (or related field).
- Minimum 4 years of recent and relevant classroom experience.
- Knowledge and experience of the IB MYP and DP programmes (preferred).
- Experience in teaching both English Language & Literature and Theatre in a Secondary School context.
- Strong communication, creativity, and classroom management skills.
- Experience in directing or producing student performances (desirable).
- Ability to support diverse learning needs.
- Documented record of teaching excellence.

The successful candidate will have:
Pastoral & Community Contribution
Serve as a tutor, supporting the social and emotional wellbeing of students and delivering the Personal Development Programme.
Contribute to the collaborative culture of ICS through participation in departmental and school-wide meetings.
Support students in key projects such as the MYP Personal Project and IB Extended Essay.
Engage in extra-curricular activities, field trips, and support school-wide performances and productions.
Education, Experience & Requirements

Terms & Conditions:
- Fixed-term maternity leave cover: from January 2026 until the end of the school year.
- Reports to: Gabriel Di Mauro, Senior School Principal, and Holly Sullivan, Department Head.
