The Office for Hunting and Fisheries (AJF) is responsible, among other things, for fish and crayfish stocks and their habitats. In addition to the protection and promotion of aquatic ecosystems, the AJF also sets the framework conditions for the sustainable use of fish stocks.
As an academic staff member in the Fisheries Department, you are responsible, among other things, for the technical and fisheries-related support of overarching revitalization projects, as well as the independent planning and implementation of smaller habitat improvement measures in the aquatic area. In addition, you provide technical support for complex fisheries-related issues within the framework of planning and construction projects. Furthermore, you have the main responsibility for the entire fisheries statistics and support the fisheries inspectors with fisheries biological and fisheries economic questions. Professional collaboration with internal departments and other cantonal offices, nature conservation organizations, and other stakeholders is of central importance. In addition, you represent the interests of fisheries in project- and specialist-related committees. Your main workplace is preferably in Chur and for fieldwork in the respective fisheries districts.
Intended start date: immediately or by arrangement
- Planning, support, and implementation of habitat improvement measures in the aquatic area
- Process responsibility in the area of fisheries statistics
- Process responsibility for water and fish stock assessments including evaluation according to MSK
- Initiation, management, and implementation of fisheries studies and projects
- Data preparation and reporting
- Scientific university of applied sciences / university education or practical vocational training with a focus on fisheries biology and/or aquatic ecology
- Strong ecological thinking with in-depth knowledge and experience in fisheries management
- Practical knowledge in hydraulic engineering (revitalization of flowing waters)
- Good statistical knowledge and experience in data management
- Good written and oral expression in German and preferably also in Italian
- Ability to absorb and learn
- Negotiation and presentation skills
- Careful as well as goal-oriented, flexible, and independent working style
