University of Art and Design Basel FHNW, Services
Your sphere of influence
As the head of the Digital Fabrication Lab, you lead the workshop with the highest high-tech orientation among the Campus.Workshops, balancing workshop maintenance, project consulting, innovation planning, and teaching. Welcome to a key role where you not only manage a workshop but also inspire people:
- Workshop leadership with vision: Organize, coordinate, and lead the Digital Fabrication Lab – technically, administratively, creatively, and in tune with the times.
- Mentor and coach: Support our students in implementing their projects – from artistic models to innovative prototypes. Your expertise makes ideas tangible.
- Workshops and courses with impact: Develop and lead introductory courses for students, as well as specialized workshops in cooperation with the degree programs.
- Utilize creative freedom: Drive the interdisciplinary development of the workshops forward with the Campus.Workshops team – innovative, collaborative, and future-oriented.
- Safety and technology management: Bring your know-how in occupational safety and digitalization and set new standards.
Your profile - What you bring
You are not only skilled in craftsmanship but also a creative mind who inspires enthusiasm:
- Qualification meets passion: You have solid experience in managing and operating digitally controlled manufacturing equipment and ideally have completed training as an automation technician (EFZ). Additionally, further education (federal diploma, HF/FH) in art/design or adult education complements your profile.
- Digital pioneer: You are passionate about combining creativity and technology and are familiar with digital tools as well as their manufacturing techniques.
- Strong communication and team orientation: Your social skills and openness make you a valued contact and sparring partner for students and colleagues.
- Languages and organizational talent: You communicate confidently in German and have good English skills. You also bring leadership experience and a structured working style.
The Campus.Workshops of FHNW provide the HGK and its students with various services and systems. Working with students enables staff to impart knowledge in a practical way and implement developments directly. At the same time, the exchange with students in education and training broadens and inspires the perspective on one’s own field.
Will you soon be part of our team? We look forward to receiving your application by 30.11.2025. The position is limited to two years, with the option of permanent employment.
