The Department of Women, Children and Adolescents is tasked with providing quality care tailored to the needs of women at every stage of their lives and addressing the health issues faced by newborns, children, and adolescents from birth up to 16 years of age. It works on developing cutting-edge services and centers of expertise in various specialties.
For many years, the Department of Women, Children and Adolescents has continuously developed advanced services and centers of expertise in several medical specialties.
The pediatric specialties service provides care for hospitalized and outpatient patients in the following specialties: pediatric allergology, pediatric cardiology, pediatric gastroenterology, pediatric nephrology and metabolism, pediatric pulmonology, neuropediatrics, exercise medicine, and obesity.
The position is attached to the Pediatric Cardiology Unit , which cares for children from the fetal period (in collaboration with obstetrics) to adulthood.
Performing more than 2000 consultations per year, specialists are able to carry out all advanced examinations, such as electrocardiograms (ECG), Holters, transthoracic, transesophageal and vascular echocardiographies, fetal echocardiographies, stress tests, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), and cardiac catheterization.
About 230 cardiac surgeries are performed each year at the Children’s Hospital. Pediatric cardiologists oversee their care from admission, through the intensive care stay, and then on the pediatric ward.
The pediatric cardiology unit and congenital cardiac surgery have received unrestricted qualification as highly specialized medicine (HSM).
Job Description
As chief physician or clinic head in the Pediatric Cardiology Unit, you participate in clinical activities, following hospitalized children with heart disease throughout their stay, jointly with pediatricians, intensivists, and neonatologists.
You perform transesophageal echocardiographies in the operating room, as well as all transthoracic echocardiographies of hospitalized patients.
You also conduct outpatient follow-up consultations for operated patients. You take part in performing and interpreting stress tests and Holters. You conduct cardiology consultations for patients hospitalized in various care units.
You perform fetal cardiology consultations and independently carry out fetal echocardiographies under the supervision of a senior staff member.
As an advanced clinic head physician, you may supervise junior clinic heads. You also supervise medical interns. You work under the supervision of attending physicians.
You participate in on-call duties and shifts.
Demonstrating a confirmed interest in teaching, you participate in pre/postgraduate and continuing education within the unit.
A dynamic, flexible, and committed person, you develop personal and/or interdisciplinary research projects. You participate in research within the unit.
Qualifications
You hold a federal medical diploma, a specialist title in pediatrics and cardiology, or have training deemed equivalent by the Medical Professions Commission of the Federal Office of Public Health (MEBEKO).
You possess the cantonal practice license or are able to obtain it before starting the position.
You have experience in pediatric cardiology, having already worked as a clinic head in a hospital. You have experience in fetal cardiology and fetal echocardiography.
For non-French-speaking candidates, C1 level French in spoken and written tests is required.
