Correctional Services and Reintegration (JuWe) is part of the Directorate of Justice and the Interior of the Canton of Zurich and is responsible for penal and measure enforcement as well as the implementation of various types of detention. For our 1,400 employees from around 40 professions, the successful social reintegration of offenders and the prevention of recidivism are of particular importance.
The Pöschwies Correctional Facility (JVA) is one of seven main departments of JuWe. The JVA Pöschwies, with 399 places, is the largest closed correctional facility in Switzerland for male offenders. It fulfills a central state function and, according to legal mandate, takes into account the resocialization of inmates and the protection of the public.
For the area of prisoner admission and release, we are looking for a committed, responsible, and reliable person with high social competence to start immediately or by arrangement. The position is limited to one year.
Due to the tasks to be performed, especially body searches, only male applicants can be considered for legal reasons.
Your tasks
- Ensuring smooth admission and release of male offenders including associated controls such as body searches
- Control, management, and administration of prisoners' personal belongings
- Creating, processing, and maintaining documentation related to admissions, releases, and property management
- Planning, coordinating, and scheduling prisoner movements (admissions, releases, court appearances, etc.)
- Supporting other work areas within the department and the entire facility
Your profile
- Completed vocational training with a federal certificate of competence, (specialized) Matura, specialized middle school certificate, or equivalent qualification
- Stable personality with high physical and mental resilience, flexibility, and pronounced social competence
- Fluent communication in spoken and written German; additional language skills are an advantage
- Good IT user skills
- Willingness to work in shifts (no night shifts)
- Impeccable reputation (no entries in the criminal and debt enforcement registers) and minimum age of 25 years
