Job description
The Faculty of Social Sciences and its Department of Sociology are opening an application for a 100% assistant professor position.Job description
The successful candidate:
- will carry out significant research and publication activities. The thematic profile of the position is open to all fields of the discipline. A mastery of fundamental sociological theories is required.
- will demonstrate significant knowledge and experience in quantitative data analysis methods applied to important sociological topics.
- will teach (courses, seminars, tutorials, study supplements) at Bachelor and Master levels (up to 4 hours per week), grade and mark student work, supervise and grade exams, and guide students in preparing their Bachelor and Master projects.
- will actively participate in the collective life of the Department of Sociology and the Institute of Sociological Research, and take charge of certain administrative tasks.
Title and required skills
The ideal candidate must hold a doctoral degree in social sciences.Required skills:
- ability to develop and conduct research projects independently (published articles and books)
- doctoral or postdoctoral stay of at least one year at another Swiss or foreign university or be able to demonstrate active involvement in a national or international research network
- mastery of scientific writing in French and English
- teaching offered in French and English
- ease in relations with students and ability to work in a team
- experience in teaching is an asset
