The Department of Actuarial Science of the Faculty of Business and Economics is looking for a Graduate Assistant.
Job information
Start date: October 1, 2025 (or at a later mutually agreed date)
Contract duration: 1 year, renewable 2 x 2 years, maximum 5 years in total.
Activity rate: 80%
Salary: Gross salary starting at CHF 54'054 per year
Place of work: Lausanne Dorigny, Extranef building.
Supervisor: Prof. Yevhen Havrylenko
Your responsibilities
In your activities, you will allocate:
- approximately 50% of your work time to the completion of your doctoral studies in Actuarial Science.
- approximately 50% of your work time to teaching, administrative tasks (including exam supervision), technical tasks and research support for the Department of Actuarial Science.
Your qualifications
We are looking for a person who has a:
- Master of Science (MSc) degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematical Finance, (Actuarial) Mathematics, Statistics, or related discipline.
- Strong motivation to conduct research in actuarial science with the aim of obtaining a doctoral degree. Research interest in asset-liability management and/or actuarial data science is not mandatory but is a plus.
- Advanced programming skills in R or Python. Competence in other programming languages is not obligatory but is a plus.
- Desire to contribute to the teaching excellence of our department. Experience in teaching is not obligatory but is a plus (especially for linear algebra and calculus).
- Fluency in English and a good level of academic writing skills. Basic understanding of French is not mandatory but is a plus.
- Proven ability to work in a multinational team and a good intercultural competence.
