The position is attached to the Diagnostic Department . Composed of nine medical services, its mission is to provide diagnoses, therapeutic products, therapeutic acts, and specialized clinical consultations of high medical quality, within the best timeframes and at an acceptable cost, to guide patient care and contribute to therapeutic decisions and actions.
Within the Diagnostic Department, the Clinical Pathology service ensures a diagnostic clinical activity , supplemented by research and teaching .
The analysis of tissue or cellular samples of biopsy, surgical, and cytological origin allows not only the establishment of diagnoses but also the evaluation of prognostic or predictive factors of response to certain treatments, which vary according to the diagnosed pathologies. The diagnostic activity of the Clinical Pathology Service thus helps guide patient care and contributes to therapeutic decisions. Finally, through the performance of medical autopsies and research activities, the Clinical Pathology Service participates in understanding the pathophysiological mechanisms involved in lesion processes. It is a fully digitized service, with clinical diagnosis performed entirely in digital pathology.
Job Description
The clinical activity is carried out both within the Clinical Pathology Service and the University Center of Forensic Medicine (CURML). Administratively, the position is attached to the Clinical Pathology Service, one of the nine medical services of the Diagnostic Department of the University Hospitals of Geneva (HUG).
As a human preparator in clinical pathology and forensic medicine, you provide essential support to the physicians of the Clinical Pathology Service and the University Center of Forensic Medicine, Geneva site, of the University Hospitals of Geneva.

In this role, you guarantee rigorous, respectful, and dignified care of deceased persons, demonstrating great professional discretion.
You work in a cutting-edge medico-technical environment that notably includes an imaging and forensic anthropology platform. Your responsibilities include handling and identifying bodies, opening and closing bodies, managing and tracking samples taken during autopsies, as well as cleaning and maintaining autopsy rooms and instruments, ensuring a high level of hygiene, cleanliness, and safety in all work areas. You participate in the administrative management of the morgue and coordination with funeral companies, HUG medical and nursing staff, and, depending on the situation, families.
Through your professionalism, empathy, and ability to manage the emotional burden inherent in this activity, you contribute to respecting the grieving process of relatives. You also contribute to improving knowledge about the pathophysiological mechanisms underlying diseases and deaths.
Qualifications

You have at least three years of confirmed professional experience as a human preparator, with practical experience in anatomical pathology and/or thanatopraxy being an additional asset.
