Research officer within the Visceral Surgery Department
The visceral surgery department is offering a position for a data manager (research officer) to complete its team with a starting date of January 1, 2026, or a date to be agreed upon.
Context
The Lausanne University Hospital (CHUV) is one of the 5 Swiss university hospitals. Thanks to its collaboration with the Faculty of Biology and Medicine of the University of Lausanne and EPFL, CHUV plays a leading role in medical care, medical research, and education.
The visceral surgery department (CHV), attached to the Department of Surgical Services (DC), includes experts in many surgical specialties: hepato-biliary and pancreas, esophagus-stomach, colorectal, proctology, general surgery, abdominal wall surgery, melanoma-sarcoma, endocrine surgery, bariatric surgery (obesity), and transplantation. Thanks to state-of-the-art equipment and advanced expertise, it manages a large number of surgical pathologies, whether related to the digestive system, the abdominal wall, or other intra-abdominal non-digestive organs such as the spleen or thyroid.
Mission
- You develop and manage the databases of the visceral surgery department within the framework of Highly Specialized Medicine (MHS) and internal quality standards
- You collect patient information from various source documents: operative protocols, discharge letters, consultation reports, via institutional management tools and enter patient data into the respective databases (Adjumed, REDCap, etc.)
- You collaborate with nursing teams and the secretariat to ensure traceability of follow-up data in the short and long term to meet MHS quality criteria
- You support the clinical operations manager in planning and conducting clinical studies
- You participate in interdisciplinary team meetings and prepare reports
- You perform data extraction and analysis related to research projects in visceral surgery and/or quality controls.
Profile
- You hold a basic training in the medical, paramedical field or an equivalent recognized title
- You have at least 5 years of professional experience in database management
- You have excellent command of French, both spoken and written, and good knowledge of English (level B2)
- You have prior experience with electronic data capture systems (industrial or institutional)
- You are familiar with common computer tools (MS Office)
- You demonstrate strong personal commitment, planning skills, and organizational sense
- You have analytical and synthesis skills and show developed critical judgment
- You are flexible, open-minded, creative, and able to work independently while having an excellent team spirit.
