About the job
The Foundation for the Freulerpalast preserves and maintains the Freulerpalast in Näfels as a nationally significant architectural monument and operates the Museum of the Canton of Glarus within it. The museum presents the history of the Canton of Glarus from its beginnings to the present day in its exhibitions and events, making visitors aware of the Glarus region as a historical, cultural, and artistic place.
We are looking for two
Museum Supervisors Freulerpalast 30%
starting April 1, 2026, with the workplace in Näfels. Working hours during the museum season (April 1 to October 31) are at least one weekday per week and two weekend days per month.
Tasks
- Starting up technical equipment in the exhibition rooms at the beginning of the shift and final inspection of the rooms at the end of the shift
- Patrols throughout the entire museum
- Enforcement of house rules and action in emergencies
- Providing information about exhibition areas or objects as well as details about operational facilities
- Keeping exhibition rooms and display cases tidy and clean
- Refilling consumables
- Checking lighting and technical equipment
- Relieving reception staff during lunch breaks
- Carrying out tasks as instructed by museum management or caretaking
Requirements
- Completed vocational training
- Flair for historical building fabric and museum objects
- Enjoyment of a versatile activity
- Willingness to work irregular hours and be present during evening and weekend shifts
- High service orientation and professional appearance
- Independent and reliable working style
