The Security Directorate employs around 5,000 staff. The Security Directorate includes the Zurich Cantonal Police, the Road Traffic Office, the Migration Office, the Office for Military and Civil Protection, the Cantonal Social Office, the Sports Office, as well as the General Secretariat with its central enforcement tasks and the appeals department.
To complement our team in the General Secretariat, we are looking for a lawyer (80-100%) starting February 1, 2026, or by agreement.

Your tasks
In this role, you will focus in particular on factual and legal issues from the areas of road traffic, shipping, traffic police, military and civil protection, population protection, metrology, and sports. You will advise and support the director of the directorate, the general secretary, and the deputy general secretary, as well as official offices. As a specialist, you will handle parliamentary matters, draft opinions and consultations, lead or accompany legislative procedures, and conduct political reviews of matters of the government council or the directorate. In addition, you will participate in internal and cross-directorate projects.
Your profile
You have a completed degree (lic. iur. or MLaw) and several years of professional experience, preferably in public administration. Thanks to your very good editorial skills, you are able to formulate convincing solutions. You work independently and are characterized by negotiation skills. Furthermore, you have a special interest and understanding of current political issues as well as the ability to network and collaborate.
