Team Leader Care Asylum Center & Deputy Head Asylum Center 100% in the Winterthur Area, Temporary (m/f/d)
Caritas Switzerland has been operating asylum centers at various locations in the canton of Zurich on behalf of the canton since March 2024. From January 1, 2026, and on a temporary basis, we will open a transit center in the Winterthur area. The center offers space for up to 100 asylum seekers. It is located in an underground facility that meets current requirements for safety, infrastructure, and protection. The premises are functional and purposefully designed to create a pleasant and structured environment for the residents.
For the management of the care team, we are looking for a flexible and committed leader who is willing to take on various shifts in addition to team leadership. As the deputy center manager, this role also assumes responsibility for the entire operation in the absence of the center manager.
Your tasks
- Personnel management and professional advice for the subordinate employees in the care team
- Personnel planning for the entire team
- Professional management of the center in accordance with the framework conditions of the clients in the absence of the center management
- Support of the center management in daily matters
- Participation in the management team
- Communication and information flow within the team
- Delegation of tasks within the team according to needs and situation
- Ensuring compliance with professional standards
- Ensuring participation in supervision and further training for team members
- Advising employees in conflict situations and measures in emergency situations
- Monitoring compliance with documentation standards
- Participation in recruitment and other personnel processes
Our requirements
- Mature, established (leadership) personality and experience in a similar position in the migration sector
- Experience in leading a care team in shift work
- Good knowledge of asylum center operations and experience in duty planning
- Strong "non-violent" communication skills combined with assertiveness
- High degree of resilience, stress tolerance, and ability to set personal boundaries
- Very good German skills, additional foreign language skills are an advantage
- Good Microsoft Office skills
- Willingness to work varying hours
Work location is in the Winterthur ZH area.
