Languages: English (document language), German & Polish (communication and information sourcing)
Location: Remote (Poland-based) with occasional travel to Polish production site inElbląg and Swiss HQ
Tasks
Position Overview
We are seeking a skilled freelance Technical Writer, based in Poland, to support technical documentation for industrial products and processes. This role requires experience with XML-based content management systems, ideally Schema ST4, and excellent communication skills in German and Polish to facilitate collaboration between our production facility in Poland and headquarters in Switzerland.
You will be fully integrated into our international technical documentation team and contribute to creating high-quality, multilingual user manuals, service guides, and work instructions.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a technical writer, preferably in an industrial or manufacturing environment
- Proficiency with XML-based authoring tools (Schema ST4 preferred)
- Excellent writing skills in English
- Fluent in Polish and German
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently
- Willingness to travel occasionally within Poland and to Switzerland
- Based in Poland and available for remote freelance collaboration
Key Responsibilities
- Create, edit, and maintain structured technical documentation using XML tools (Schema ST4)
- Translate complex engineering input into clear, usable documentation in Simplified Technical English
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineering, production, and technical writing peers in Poland and Switzerland
- Ensure consistency, quality, and compliance with documentation standards
- Occasionally travel to the production site in Poland and the HQ in Switzerland
Nice to Have
- Experience with terminology management and translation workflows
- Experience with Adobe Illustrator
- Background in engineering, manufacturing, or product development
