Job Startimmediately or by arrangementPublished26 March 2026The Federal Institute of Metrology METAS is the reference institute for measurements and measuring instruments in Switzerland. To ensure that a liter is always a liter (e.g., when refueling), METAS performs calibrations, conformity assessments, and consulting for business, research, and administration. Measurement accuracy builds trust, especially at the societal and political level, and is indispensable in many areas: road traffic, electricity billing, time transmission, environmental and health measurements, etc. At METAS, various disciplines come together and complement each other – and this has been the case since 1862.
Due to upcoming retirements, we are looking for three leadership personalities for the laboratories Direct Current and Low Frequency, High Frequency as well as Photonics, Time and Frequency. - You identify R&D potentials, initiate new projects, and promote a culture in which employees take responsibility and contribute new ideas.
- As the central contact person for customers and partners, you accompany the introduction of new services and position the laboratory as a reliable, competent, and innovative partner.
- You professionally represent the laboratory externally and maintain and expand relationships with key industrial customers as well as leading research groups. You actively engage in national and international expert committees in the respective metrological fields.
Requirements

- Your solution-oriented attitude, quick comprehension, precise working method, and interdisciplinary thinking distinguish you
- You communicate confidently in one official language and have very good knowledge of a second official language (B2 - C1), complemented by good English skills
We offer
- A responsible leadership role with scope for design, in which you actively shape the future of a technical-scientific laboratory. You work at the interface between industry and research, with a team at the highest professional level and in a collegial environment with attractive working conditions.
