What to expect
- You lead, coach, and develop your engineering team and promote a culture of learning, personal responsibility, and technical excellence
- You support your employees in their personal and professional development and ensure an optimal team structure and efficient processes
- You work closely with product management and stakeholders to optimally implement requirements in the Buy area and ensure the greatest possible benefit for our customers
- You are part of an agile team and actively work hands-on on the conception and development of sustainable, scalable technical solutions for Buy
- You are responsible for the analysis, conception, and implementation of new features and innovations – from idea to going live
- You actively shape and validate the software architecture and develop clean interface definitions and modular components
- You conduct code reviews to ensure code quality and share your knowledge with your team through pair programming sessions
- You help your team independently specify and estimate development efforts in close coordination with the product lead
- You work independently on the analysis and documentation of technical and business requirements in the Buy area
- You coordinate with other teams and departments to effectively implement technical requirements
- You ensure high development standards, testing processes, and documentation quality
- You continuously support and optimize development and test environments as well as CI/CD and DevOps processes
- You are not afraid to perform deployments on Fridays
- You actively drive technological innovations and improvements, keep up to date with industry trends and new technologies in the Buy area, and evaluate their potential for our platform
- You support the selection and introduction of new technologies as well as established best practices in the team
- You proactively identify technical debt and implement targeted measures to reduce it
- You monitor potential risks in your area of technical responsibility and respond actively to them
What you bring
- At least 5 years of experience in software development, ideally in the e-commerce environment, with at least 1 year in a technical or disciplinary leadership role
- Very good knowledge of common programming languages, backend & frontend technologies, and cloud solutions
- Solid knowledge in Java (+ with common frameworks like Spring Boot, Vert.x), cloud architectures, and experience with CI/CD and DevOps
- Familiarity with modular software architecture, interface design, and asynchronous data processing (e.g., with Apache Kafka)
- Experience applying Domain-Driven Design (DDD) to model complex business domains
- Knowledge in implementing Self-Contained Systems (SCS) and micro-frontends to improve system architecture
- Experience with asynchronous data replication and data mesh architectures to optimize data management
- Familiarity with Team Topologies to design effective team structures
- Experience in developing and optimizing shopping cart, checkout, payment, and order management systems in the e-commerce environment
- High affinity for agentic coding (e.g., with tools like Claude Code or GitHub Copilot / Code Assist)
- Strong analytical and conceptual skills as well as high problem-solving competence and customer orientation
- Excellent leadership, communication, and social skills with the ability to develop and motivate teams both professionally and personally
- A bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, business informatics, or a related field, or a comparable qualification
- Active exchange with the software development community and regular contributions to open-source projects
