Your role
As a Senior Consultant, you are an expert at contributing to different phases of the consulting lifecycle. You will be intensely involved in; you will define the problem, propose and refine the solution. You will also play an important role in the development, configuration and deployment of the overall solution. You will guide teams on project processes, deliverables and contribute to the proposal development, client training and internal capability-building and help detail the project scope. You will have the opportunity to shape value-adding consulting solutions that enable our clients to meet the changing needs of the global landscape.
Responsibilities:
1. Databases Installation and Configuration
- Install, configure, and upgrade database software.
- Plan and implement database migrations and upgrades.
- Configure database parameters for optimal performance and resource utilization.
2. Performance Monitoring and Tuning
- Monitor database performance, identify and troubleshoot performance bottlenecks.
- Tune database queries and indexes to improve performance.
- Analyze database usage patterns and recommend optimizations.
3. Security Administration
- Manage database security, including user access control, data encryption, and authentication.
- Implement and maintain security policies and procedures.
- Monitor for and respond to security threats.
4. Backup and Recovery
- Plan and implement regular database backups and recovery procedures.
- Test and restore databases from backups to ensure data recoverability.
- Implement disaster recovery plans for database systems.
5. Capacity Planning
- Plan for and manage database storage capacity.
- Monitor database resource utilization and proactively address capacity issues.
6. Troubleshooting
- Diagnose and resolve database-related issues, including performance problems, data corruption, and security breaches.
7. Documentation
Qualifications:
- Maintain comprehensive documentation of database systems, procedures, and configurations.
Personal
- Deep understanding of database concepts: database architecture, data models, normalization, indexing.
- Experience with Oracle database platform.
- Preferably experience with various other database platforms: (e.g. Azure SQL Server MI, MySQL, PostgreSQL, SQL Server, MongoDB).
- Knowledge of operating systems (e.g., Linux, Windows).
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- At least 5 years of experience as a Database Administrator or a similar role.
