Attached to the Medical and Quality Directorate of the HUG, the coordination of organ and tissue donation is responsible for coordinating awareness activities for the population, training professionals, and organizing the various programs related to organ and tissue donation.
Organ and tissue donation specialist nurses (ISDOT) form a team of professionals expert in interacting with all services that may be involved in donation (adult and pediatric intensive care, emergency, operating room, care services).
The HUG are part of the Latin Organ Donation Program (PLDO), which is one of the five donation networks in Switzerland.
The PLDO is part of highly specialized medicine. Collaborations and synergies between hospitals and Swisstransplant are a priority to ensure quality care.
Job Description
As a nurse specialist in organ and tissue donation (ISDOT), you organize organ and tissue retrievals. You ensure quality care for donors and their relatives throughout the donation process.
After training, you perform the selection of cornea donors and then the retrieval procedure (by delegation).
Part of your mission is also to train professionals and participate in information and awareness actions on organ and tissue donation at the hospital and extra-hospital levels.
You participate in the development of organ and tissue donation programs and contribute to quality improvement and research in the health field.
Within the framework of the PLDO, you may be called upon to intervene outside the HUG to assist teams and coordinate donor care.
Qualifications
You hold a Bachelor of Science in Nursing or an equivalent recognized by the Swiss Red Cross.
You are a certified EPD ES expert in intensive care, emergency, anesthesia, or operating room.
You have at least 5 years of experience in an acute care field.
You have good knowledge of English.
You master institutional applications such as DPI, DPA, and word processing and presentation software.
Good organizational skills, autonomy, priority management, stress resistance, and ease in multidisciplinary relationships and teamwork are required.
Dynamic, you demonstrate adaptability, excellent interpersonal skills, and very good listening skills.
You know how to show discretion and respect confidentiality and have a good ability to take a stand when the situation requires it.
Due to frequent travel, a driving license is also desired.
