Diaconis operates three business areas: living and care in old age, palliative care, and professional integration. Since its founding in 1844, Diaconis has been committed as a non-profit organization to ensuring that people in fragile life situations are cared for, nurtured, and supported according to their needs. Our team comprises around 300 employees at several locations in the city of Bern, Ostermundigen, and Biel.
As the largest certified specialized palliative care unit in the canton of Bern and a cooperation partner of Inselspital, Spitalzentrum Biel, Hirslanden Bern, and UPD, Diaconis Palliative Care cares for people with an incurable, progressive illness and their families who require hospital treatment. The unit is located in the Oranienburg house in a beautiful and central location on the upper Aare slope.
An interprofessional care and treatment team consisting of physicians, nursing staff, psychosocial care, chaplaincy, physiotherapy, music therapy, and social work ensures individual, comprehensive support and treatment with the goal of the best possible quality of life for patients and their relatives.
