Job Description
Your responsibilities
As a Project Engineer for the High-Luminosity LHC, you will join the Project Office (DO) within the Accelerators and Technology (ATS) Sector.
Your work will focus on the integration and the preparation for the eventual de-installations for Work Package 15 for the HL-LHC installations during Long Shutdown 3 (scheduled to begin July 2026).
Your responsibilities will include:
Following up with the integration modifications required for new underground caverns and LHC alcoves, validating the equipment integration to be used and producing the required documentation.
Producing and updating 3D models using CATIA V5.
Preparing and uploading the data derived from the integration to the HL-LHC lay-out database.
Taking part in the installation schedule preparation, and the analysing the impact of ECR on the baseline schedule and budget.
Following up on new small and medium projects that the HL-WP15 will take over to guarantee the smooth preparation of the de-installation and installation.
Supporting the WPs for the de-installation and installation procedure preparation and contributing to the Installation Readiness Reviews required for starting major installation phases.
Taking part in WP15 team activities for organising meetings, reporting, updating SharePoint pages, etc.
By the application deadline, you have a maximum of two years of professional experience since graduation in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering (or a related field) and your highest educational qualification is either a Bachelor's or Master's degree.
You have never had a CERN fellow or graduate contract before.
Applicants without University degree are not eligible.
Applicants with a PhD are not eligible.
Additional Information
Job closing date: 26.06.2025 at 23:59 CEST.
Contract duration: 24 months, with a possible extension up to 36 months maximum.
Working hours: 40 hours per week
Target start date: 01-September-2025
This position involves:
Participation in a regular stand-by duty, including nights, Sundays and official holidays.
Work in Radiation Areas.
Interventions in underground installations.
A valid driving licence.
Work during nights, Sundays and official holidays, when required by the needs of the Organisation.
