Institute of Ecology and Evolution, University of Bern

The Institute of Ecology and Evolution at the University of Bern (IEE) researches the diversity of life and the processes that shape this diversity and are necessary for its preservation. It combines basic and applied research on biodiversity, ecology, and the consequences of global changes. Through interdisciplinary approaches from molecular biology to ecosystem ecology, the IEE contributes to knowledge about the protection of ecosystems and a sustainable future.
For the team of the Central Services of the IEE, we are looking for two administrative clerks, including one finance specialist and one personnel specialist (see parallel job posting).
Tasks
• Administration and control of the finances of research projects
• Preparing budgets for researchers
• Checking timely reports of third-party funds
• Accounts payable and receivable accounting
• Collaboration in the area of contracts
• Close cooperation with the finance department of the University of Bern
• Administrative support of the third-year courses of the BSc Biology and the MSc Ecology & Evolution, coordination of events and exam dates, grade entry, creation of the timetable
• Administrative tasks/general correspondence, assistance with job postings, management of successor transactions, administrative organization of events
Requirements
• Completed commercial or comparable basic training, ideally in finance/accounting and experience in the area of responsibility
• Knowledge of ERP systems
• Strong customer and service orientation
• Commitment to a diverse, fair, and inclusive work environment
• Attention to detail
• Efficient and independent work organization as well as a high sense of responsibility
• Teamwork skills
• Very good German and English skills in spoken and written form, additional languages (especially French) are an advantage
• Proficient in computer use (MS Office programs)
