Role Overview :   

Huntsman is seeking a Technical Service Laboratory Leader to join our Technology Center in Basel within the Advanced Materials division. This role is part of the Technical Service & Product Development organization and plays a key function in ensuring high‑quality laboratory operations, supporting product development, and enabling effective troubleshooting for internal and external customers. This local function reports to the Technology Manager.

Role Responsibilities : 

As a Technical Service Laboratory Leader, you will: 

• Lead the daily operation of the Technical Service laboratories, ensuring full compliance with Huntsman and Swiss EHS standards, including safety checks, risk assessments, SOPs and training.
• Deliver high‑quality laboratory support for Technical Service, including service requests, product development work, complaint investigations and production troubleshooting.
• Develop and apply relevant test methods and laboratory techniques, driving continuous improvement in quality, efficiency and productivity.
• Ensure laboratories meet ISO/TQM and, where applicable, IATF 16949 requirements, including preparation of documentation for audits.
• Analyse complex technical problems, structure solutions and provide clear reporting through project updates, written reports and presentations.
• Engage effectively with internal and external stakeholders to ensure timely, high‑standard project execution and contribute to idea generation and IP activities.
• Plan and manage workload according to priorities and deadlines; where applicable, supervise and support a laboratory technician.
• Foster a positive, proactive team environment and contribute to ongoing improvements in laboratory practices and ways of working.

Experience and Competencies:   

We are looking for experienced candidates with initiative, able to build relationship and having a solution-focused approach.  

What we are looking for: 

• University degree (Bachelor, Master or PhD) in a relevant scientific discipline.
• At least 7 years of experience in thermoset chemistry, industrial product formulation, and laboratory or product management.
• Strong understanding of laboratory operations, including EHS standards and safe handling of hazardous chemicals.
• Practical experience preparing epoxy formulations at laboratory scale.
• Solid knowledge of thermoset industry testing methods (e.g., DSC, rheology, TGA, TMA).
• Proven product development and chemical formulation capabilities.
• Familiarity with IATF 16949 requirements is a strong asset.
• Fluent in English and German (spoken and written); additional languages are an advantage.
