The Zurich Public Prosecutor's Office, with around 500 employees, is responsible for prosecuting crimes committed by adults throughout the canton of Zurich. To relieve the caseworkers in all regions and to ensure a sustainable workload balance, the Relief Public Prosecutor's Office ESTA is being established. In the ESTA, the temporarily created positions of commercial assistant public prosecutors to handle mass delinquency are grouped together in one department. Also attached to the ESTA is the already existing Department J for relief deployments with public prosecutors with a floating function ("Joker"). The ESTA plays an operationally central role in the Zurich Public Prosecutor's Office: it is responsible for the targeted implementation of the temporary positions of commercial assistant public prosecutors, coordinates the relief deployments of public prosecutors with a floating function ("Joker"), and significantly contributes to a balanced workload within the organization through its operational activities. For the newly created department of commercial assistant public prosecutors, we are looking for a Head of Department (80-100%) from April 1, 2026, temporarily until December 31, 2029.
Your tasks:
- Co-responsibility for the targeted implementation of the temporary positions of commercial assistant public prosecutors in active collaboration with the Senior Public Prosecutor's Office by building and organizing your own department
- Recruitment, training, and coaching of commercial assistant public prosecutors
- Organization and management of the department from a professional and personnel perspective
- Ensuring a balanced case load in the department
- Case processing as a public prosecutor for cases arising in the ESTA
- Active contribution to a collegial and performance-oriented team culture within your own department and the office
Your profile:
- Several years of successful work as a public prosecutor and initial leadership experience in leading & training, e.g., auditors
- High motivation and enthusiasm, joy in imparting knowledge
- Innovative thinking and strong interest in conceptual and organizational work
- Initiative and commitment, high goal and implementation orientation
- Cooperative interaction on equal footing with all employees of the office
