For the Surface Waters Research Department ( Surf ) we are looking for an immediate or by arrangement a
To support our research groups in the field of biogeochemistry, we are looking for a person responsible for the area of organic geochemistry/stable isotope analytics and to assist with field research. As part of your duties, you will independently organize laboratory operations and carry out amino acid, gas, and lipid analyses. You will organize field activities on and at water bodies, participate in expeditions, and support the training of students in environmental sciences and laboratory apprentices.
The position is currently limited to three years and is located at the attractive site in Kastanienbaum in the canton of Lucerne.
Your tasks
For these demanding and diverse tasks, you need training as a Laboratory Technician EFZ specializing in chemistry and/or a HFP or FH degree. You have excellent technical skills and bring a solid theoretical and practical background in (organic) chemistry. You have interest and enjoyment in fieldwork and ideally already have experience. You appreciate working within national and international research projects that require independence, flexibility, teamwork, and personal responsibility. Good oral and written German and English skills, IT skills, especially common Office programs, as well as a category B driving license complete your profile. The willingness to obtain a boat license and occasionally work outside regular hours is expected.

- Operation and maintenance of isotope mass spectrometers, gas chromatographs, HPLCs
- Planning, support, and independent execution of water sampling and field measurements
- Routine and advanced analyses of amino acids, lipids,
lignin, gases (methane, CO2, N2O) - Advising and guiding researchers and students
- Co-responsible for the training of laboratory apprentices
- Substitution for other laboratory staff in the department
