Correctional Services and Reintegration (JuWe) is part of the Directorate of Justice and the Interior of the Canton of Zurich and is responsible for penal and measure enforcement as well as the implementation of various types of detention. For our 1,400 employees from around 40 professions, the successful social reintegration of offenders and the prevention of recidivism are of particular importance.
The Pöschwies Correctional Facility (JVA) is one of seven main departments of JuWe. With 399 places, JVA Pöschwies is the largest closed correctional facility in Switzerland for male offenders. It fulfills a central state function and, according to legal mandate, takes into account the resocialization of inmates and the protection of the public.
We are looking for a motivated, resilient, and team-oriented person to strengthen our Integration Group (IG) as a supervisor / caregiver, starting immediately or by arrangement.
This is your field of activity
- Responsible for the care, employment, and support of inmates within the daily structures – as a reliable and competent contact person in everyday life
- Organizing an orderly daily routine and consistently implementing safety and service regulations; critical situations are recognized early and handled professionally
- Active participation in leisure and group activities to promote a structured and meaningful daily schedule
- Careful execution of administrative tasks such as creating reports and documenting important events
What you bring with you
- A completed vocational training (EFZ), (specialized) Matura, a specialized middle school certificate, or an equivalent qualification; knowledge in dealing with mentally ill persons is an advantage
- Excellent oral and written German skills and ideally knowledge of another language
- Confident handling of the MS Office suite
- High mental and physical resilience – shift work, on-call, and weekend duties fit well with your daily life
- Impeccable reputation (no entries in the criminal or debt register) and a minimum age of 25 years
