Job Description
At Syngenta, our goal is to build the most collaborative and trustworthy team in agriculture, providing top-quality seeds and innovative crop protection solutions that improve farmers' success. To support this mission, Syngenta’s Hiring Team is seeking an Onsite Post doc Crop Physiology in Stein.
Role purpose:
The purpose of the role is to strengthen the Plant & Soil Health Team within Research Biology in Stein by providing both technical and operational support to the team's scientific programs. The position involves designing, performing, and analyzing whole plant physiological studies in controlled environment rooms (CER) and glasshouse settings.
Accountabilities:
- Designing and performing whole plant physiological studies in CER and glasshouse
- Landscaping, testing, and implementing new crop phenotyping technologies
- Analyzing and interpreting experimental data and presenting conclusions in detailed reports and presentations
- Collaborating with internal Syngenta functions and within external global collaborations (CROs, academics)
- Being an active member of the scientific community by effectively networking e.g., with relevant scientists, research institutes, universities and scientific societies
- Strengthening the Syngenta brand through publications in peer-reviewed journals and presentation at international scientific meetings
Qualifications
- PhD or Postdoc in Plant Biology/Agronomy or similar field with high focus in Plant Physiology
- Strong background in Crop Physiology and/or Plant Nutrition, with significant contribution to research project delivery
- Experience in designing, performing, and analyzing whole plant physiological studies in controlled environment rooms (CER) and glasshouse settings
- Experience with digital plant phenotyping methods is advantageous
- Experience with crop nutrition and/or fertilization management is advantageous
- Proficiency in Python and/or R, with knowledge in big data analysis
- Interest and preferably experience in Agronomy
- Team player, and able to collaborate effectively with team leaders, scientific experts, and research scientists; supports other team members
- Ability to plan and execute own work with little supervision, adapt to change, and communicate assertively
- Fluency in English, written and spoken (B2-C1 level)
