The waste incineration plant (KVA) of the city of Winterthur processes 200,000 tons of waste annually and produces heat for the district heating network of the city of Winterthur as well as about 20 percent of Winterthur's electricity demand. Get involved as a plant operator and actively help ensure this 7 x 24 hour operation. An exciting, varied, and responsible area of responsibility awaits you.Your Tasks
- Operate and monitor our complex process plant via the process control system (PLS)
- Maintain the plant components of the two incinerators, the steam boilers, and the flue gas cleaning system
- Ensure as disturbance-free and economical operation of the KVA as possible
- Troubleshoot, perform repairs, recurring tasks, and inspection rounds
- Comply with limit values for flue gas and wastewater, keep operational reports
- Participate in the annual maintenance work
Your Profile
- Completed training as a polymechanic, machine mechanic, electromechanic, chemical technician, or related professions with several years of professional experience, ideally with experience in thermal process technology
- Willingness to learn: You have the pronounced ability and motivation to familiarize yourself with the operation of complex process plants and quickly understand technical contexts.
- Desire for development: You have the firm intention to complete the part-time further education to become a heating plant operator with a federal certificate of competence (if not already obtained)
- Willingness to work shifts (3-shift operation) in a modern and complex technical environment with partly high emissions (noise, heat, dirt)
- High safety and risk awareness, networked thinking, and the ability to solve problems independently and systematically
- Precise and independent working style, reliability, and team orientation
- Good IT user skills
