As of May 1, 2026, or by agreement, a position as Subject Specialist in Legal Sciences is to be newly filled at the Bern Law Library (JBB).
University Library Bern (UB)- We provide information resources for research, teaching, and study – electronically or on paper
- We assist with simple as well as complex (subject) searches and impart information literacy
- We offer support and infrastructure for scientific publications, research, and project data
- We collect and digitize Bernese materials

Tasks
As a Subject Specialist in Legal Sciences, you will manage the collection of the Bern Law Library by ensuring the content indexing of new acquisitions as well as the assignment and maintenance of the library's own classification system. Furthermore, you are responsible for subject-specific information delivery in training sessions and consultations for researchers and students.
Requirements
- A completed university degree in legal sciences.
- Training as a scientific librarian, relevant practical experience in a scientific library, or willingness to undertake appropriate further training.
- Didactic skills for imparting subject-specific information literacy (training, presentations, and consultations).
- A cooperative and results-oriented working style, social and communication skills, customer orientation, and commitment.
- Interest in innovations in the field of library services and scientific communication.
