With nearly 1,200 employees, the Department of Acute Medicine (D-MA) includes anesthesiology, clinical pharmacology and toxicology, adult intensive care, and adult emergency services. It fulfills a fourfold mission through its services, which provide expertise in frequent interaction with all Geneva University Hospitals, thanks to a transversal platform, aiming to ensure the best possible patient care.
The Emergency Department is a transversal service tasked with welcoming patients 24/7 regardless of the nature of their health problem, ensuring rapid and effective care to direct patients to the most appropriate structure. The Emergency Department also provides urgent medical assistance at the cantonal level, coordinates and manages major events, while serving as a reference service for cantonal structures.
Job Description
You wish to specialize in acute care and subsequently in emergency care? Several nurse positions are open for application.
As part of your role within the Emergency Department, you will work across several sectors within a large multidisciplinary team.
You will care for patients in urgent or semi-urgent contexts with a wide variety of pathologies.
Thanks to your versatility, you can handle multiple pathologies ranging from medical emergencies to surgical emergencies, psychiatric emergencies, and resuscitation. You have skills in rapid diagnostic analysis and are comfortable assessing the psychiatric state of patients to gauge the real urgency of each situation.
You actively contribute to the supervision and teaching of new nursing staff, students, and other health professionals. Through your professionalism, you contribute to the development of care quality and health research.
Qualifications
You hold a Bachelor of Science in Nursing or an equivalent recognized qualification by the Swiss Red Cross.
Previous hospital experience is essential. At least one year of experience in an emergency care service is recommended.
You also commit to undertaking specialized training in emergency care. The specialized training, lasting 2 years and funded by the employer, is conducted on the job.
You possess a strong sense of organization and priority management. You demonstrate versatility and adaptability as well as excellent interpersonal skills.
You are a motivated, attentive, and dynamic person, ready to invest yourself in an institution whose relational values you share, namely trust, respect, team spirit, recognition, equality, and inclusion.
You have excellent command of the French language, both spoken and written.
